Anatomy:

Ciliated cuboidal or columnar epithelial cells lining ventricles and central canal.

Apical cilia move cerebrospinal fluid (CSF); microvilli absorb nutrients.

Form a single-layered epithelium, part of the ependyma.
Function:

Produce and circulate CSF (in choroid plexus).

Create a barrier between CSF and brain parenchyma.

Facilitate exchange of signaling molecules between CSF and brain tissue.
-
Serve as neural stem cells in certain regions (e.g., subventricular zone).
